Overview

School of Electronics & Electrical Engineering (SoEEE) has been evolving since the inception of Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth (Formerly Known as Lingaya’s University) in the year 2009. The major objective of the School is to impart high quality education and to encourage the students, comprising B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD, in pursuing research. The School offers B. Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), M. Tech (Embedded System) and Ph.D. program in various specialized areas of Electronics & Electrical Engineering. The major research areas of the department include Communication Systems, Signal Processing, Image and Video Processing, VLSI and Embedded Systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless Communication, RF and Microwave, Electric Drives, Power Systems and Power Electronics.

In tune with the academic philosophy of the Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth, the SoEEE curricula for the undergraduate and postgraduate programs aim at producing high quality engineers in the area of Electronics & Communication /Electrical Engineering.

Why B.Tech. In Electronics & Communication Engineering

B.Tech. program in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Lingaya’sVidyapeeth focuses on developing a suitable academic environment to promote research attitude, employability readiness, and entrepreneurial spirit among students.

The Electronics & Communication Engineers who can take up challenges in design, development, research and manufacturing in areas such as Internet of Things& Artificial Intelligence, 5G & Beyond, Embedded Systems, Information Processing & Analytics , Telecommunication & Networking etc. Students shall undertake courses in Basic Sciences, Mathematics, and Basic Engineering as well as in core subjects of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE).

The programs shall be fully supported by laboratory facilities which shall be set up in a phased manner. All laboratories will be equipped with state of the art instruments and software tools to enable students to perform designoriented experiments and test their designs by simulation in research areas of VLSI Design & VLSI Signal Processing, Signal Processing for Information, wireless Networks, Internet of Things, Antenna and Microwave for 5G and above.

The program is supported by relevant, up-to-date curriculum, unique teaching pedagogy, fully equipped labs and experienced faculty. It is an intensely focused undergraduate program tailored to a student’s interests and real-world opportunities.

Overview of Industry in Electronics and Communication Engineering

The electronics industry is estimated at a global market of USD 2000 billion and above by 2025 with demand for complete hardware solutions. Three significant fields - Internet of Things, Communication Systems, InformationProcessing and Embedded systems play a significant role.

The tech giant Microsoft has said that by the year 2021, over 60 percent of India’s GDP would be derived from digital products and services such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and cloud computing, among others.

“Artificial Intelligence, AI, New Technology to contribute $154 Billion to India’s GDP by 2021”, says Microsoft India President.

Internet of Things requires Electronic Hardware Design, which mainly consist of new product design and development in the field of electronics. An electronic system may include an embedded microcontroller or a microprocessor requiring programming, a field programmable gate array (FPGA) coded in a hardware description language such as Verilog or VHDL, software in C, assembly language, or other languages.

Electronic design includes data acquisition techniques using various sensors, wireless sensors, low noise analog systems design, high‐speed digital design, instrumentation, PCB design, at multiple frequencies. It is also essential to be aware of what’s happening on the other side of the hardware-software boundary, manufacturability question, or applications programming interface (API).

Information Processing and Analytics is inevitable and more versatile for numerous applications including audio and speech processing, digital image and video processing, sonar, radar and many other sensor array processing, signal processing for telecommunications, control systems, biomedical engineering, seismology and remote sensing, to name a few. The applications of signal processing include Healthcare, digital and software radio frequency processing, single‐chip solutions, ASIC, digital signal processing applications, system‐on‐chip with hardware accelerators, cognitive and reconfigurable radar, Internet of things (IoT), cloud and service computing, new‐generation television, and autonomous system perception.

Advances in Communication Engineering for 5G and Beyond plays a crucial role in upcoming technologies like 5G and beyond, and IoT. The applications include communication protocol and system development, communication network development and implementation, telecommunication equipment design, the design of RF components, Antenna design to name a few.

The School is committed to engage in high quality research and pursuit of excellence in teaching. The faculty members of the school are actively involved in research and development in challenging areas of both theory and experiment. The labs established here have been well equipped with the latest equipment. School of Electronics & Electrical Engineering has intel sponsored Lab on Internet of Things. The School has online access to DELNET digital library and other online journals. High End Computational Servers and Software’s like MATLAB, PSPICE, and CAD Tools are available with the school in order to accelerate the research. Instructional laboratories for Basic Electronics, Analog Electronics and Digital Electronics are fully operational. Advanced laboratories like Communication Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Embedded Systems, VLSI, Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Power Systems are also fully operational with advanced technologies, hardware equipment and software. The School undertakes a continuous process of setting up experimental and computational facilities for taking up research & development and consultancy activities in various fields as also to produce state-of-the-art research output.
